The first chapter consists of Knowledge Management Concept, KM Strategies, Architecture and Tools of KM Practices.We are observing increasing hype about the wonders delivered by newest information technologies in an era characterized by knowledge as the critical resource for business activity. With the advent of new technologies, such as datamining, intranets, videoconferencing, and webcasting, several technologists are offering such solutions as a panacea for meeting the business challenges of the knowledge era.

The second chapter consists of Six Sigma − Concept, steps involved in launching Six Sigma, benefits derived the basis of Six Sigma is measuring a process in terms of defects. The statistical concept of Six Sigma means your processes are working nearly perfectly, delivering only 3.4 defects per million opportunities (DPMO). As you know from your experience with Six Sigma, Sigma (the Greek letter σ) is a statistical term that measures standard deviation. In the context of management, it`s used to measure defects in the outputs of a process and show how far the process deviates from perfection.

Turning to the Indian scene, one finds increasing concern about improving the performance of the board. This is doubtless an important issue, but a close analysis of the ground reality in India would force one to conclude that the board is not really central to the corporate governance malaise in India.

About The Author

Mr. Bharatbhushan Sankaye is working as Professor at Sinhgad Institute of Management and Computer Application, Pune. He is a graduate in Economics and Postgraduate in Management in Marketing specialization. He has worked in consumer durable organisation for eight years at middle level of management as a Area Sales Manager. His industry experience includes handling Depot Management at Pune, Indore and Ahmedabad. He is having field experience of three states-Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. He was involved in dealer selection and dealer management, field force selection and supervision. Launching of products implementing after-sales service, formulating dealer price list, customer price list formulation and execution of sales promotion schemes for dealers and field force etc.

He is having rich experience in academics from last twenty years. He is PG recognised teacher and worked on different university committees.

Dr. V.S. Managnale is presently working as a Director in Sinhgad School of Business Studies, Narhe, Pune 41 He has 32 years of diverse experience in administration, academics and research .H e was a "Dean" faculty of commerce, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

He has reorganised PG and Ph.D. guide for University of Pune, Solapur University, Shivaji University and Bharti Vidhyapeeth, Pune. Under his guidance ten teachers awarded Ph.D. and eleven teachers awarded M Phil. He submitted major and minor research projects to the UGC and other authorities. He has got diverse experience of working statutory authorities of various universities. He has presented and published many research papers in national and International conferences and research journals. He has published many books in general subjects and specifically in management subjects. His area of specialisation is Managerial Economics, Research Methodology, HRM, Marketing and General Management. He has given lectures in various universities as a resource person and as a professional trainer for the corporate sectors.
