About The Book

The Second Revised and Enlarged Edition of our book on "Principles of Business Law" for Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) students of Bangalore University.

The Second Edition, besides maintaining the PLUS features of the First Edition of the book, viz., lucid presentation, tailor-made approach, comprehensive text with plenty of illustrative material including case laws, questions and problems for recapitulation etc., has several additional welcome features. These include the following:

- The book meets all the more comprehensively the course content requirement of the students appearing in the paper Business Laws for BBM Bangalore and those having similar course contents.
- Since the publication of the First Edition, two important developments have taken place in respect of corporate laws:
(i) Replacement of the Companies Act 1956, by a new Act titled as The Companies Act, 2013.
(ii) Enactment of The Companies (Amendment) Act 2015, providing for certain changes in The Companies Act 2013.
All these developments have been incorporated at appropriate places in the book.
- In view of the Companies Act, 1956 not being completely repealed and enforcement of the Companies Act, 2013 in stages; an Appendix has been added in Section IV: 'Elements of Company Law', giving details of sections of New Act which have been enforced.
- The text matter in several chapters has been strengthened, wherever necessary.

About The Author

Dr. S.N. Maheshwari is presently Director, Delhi Institute of Advance Studies, Delhi. He is also the Chairman, Indian Society of Accounting and Management, New Delhi. During his long and varied experience, he worked as Principal, Hindu College, University of Delhi; Professor and Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Business Management, Goa University; Director, Institute of Management Science and Productivity Research, New Delhi; Director (Academic), BLS Institute of Management, Mohan Nagar, Vice-principal, Shri Ram College of Chandigarh. Dr. S. N. Maheshwari has around five decades of teaching experience of B.Com, BBA, M.Com, MBA, CA, CS and ICWA students. He has authored about a hundred books / monographs and participated in several national and international seminars.

Dr. S. K. Maheshwari is presently Professor, Marshall, University, USA. He holds a Doctorate in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University, USA. He also has an MBA Degree from Bombay University along with a Master in Accountancy (with double major in Accounting and Taxation) from Miami University (Oxford, USA). Dr. S. K. Maheshwari has more than five dozen books / monographs to his credit and has contributed a number of articles in the areas of Accounting and Finance with several leading national and international journals. His research interest include executive compensation, activity based costing and interdisciplinary application for both practical and theoretical. He is also involved with many community-base services. He was nominated for "Who`s Who among America Teacher 2002". He also bagged the coveted Summer Research Award for three consecutive years between 1999 and 2002, and the University`s Merit Award for teaching and research in 2000. Dr. Maheshwari has also contributed his services to many corporate sector giants such as Holiday Inn and Tata Consultancy Services.
