Bangalore University has rightly in accordance with UGC guidelines imparting education semester mode, wherein skill development component forms part of the dicipline in all courses. This is the effort in right direction, as students in the modern competitive era, should know the basics and have exposure to the practical aspects of the discipline. Prescribing "Services Management" to the BBM students at this juncture is a welcome point, because, our economy has metamorphosised to service sector from agrarian economy.

In the knowledge economy of to-day, the services sector play a pivotal role in the economic development of a country, in our country. The services sector contribution to GDP is 52 percent and it will go beyond in the years to come. The students community has vast and simple . in the sector and therefore, it is suggested to know the scope and concepts of the sector.

We, in the present book with adequate Indian examples, explained the different segments in the services sector that is conceptual backdrop of services, its classification, role in the economy, tourism management, hotel industry, healthcare services, knowledge of the customer and application of marketing mix components in the sector.

Every chapter in this book starts with learning objectives, a detailed arrangement of sub topics, followed by summary, keywords, objective, analytical and essay type questions according to Bangalore University pattern.

About The Author

Dr. B. Chandrashekara, hails from a small village in Hassan District and marched forward considerably to carve a niche in the field of business education in India. He has toiled and moiled to reach the self-prophecy of becoming an established teacher in the field of Commerce and Management. His strenuous and hard work fetched him a place as a matured professor. He has to his credit M.Com, (Rank Holder), MBA, MTM, M.Phil, and Ph.D. He is an accomplished author for Commerce and Management disciplines. He has authored over 15 books on Commerce and Management disciplines already. He has presented and published several research articles in the National and International Conferences, Journals and Magazines. He has been guiding research scholars for their M.Phil and Ph.Ds. His areas of interest covers Taxation, Research Methodology, Marketing Management, Strategic Management, International Finance, Financial Management, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting and the like. He is a former Treasurer of Karnataka Government College Teachers` Association. He worked as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, Maharani`s Arts, Commerce and Management College for Women, Bangalore, a NAAC accredited `A` Grade College. Dr. K. Ramachandra, has to his credit M.Com.(Rank Holder), MBA., DPM & IR, LLB., and Ph.D., and over two decades of teaching and research experience in the field of Commerce and Management disciplines. He was a High Court Advocate with strong base and exposure on business, taxation, and I PR trade laws. He has produced several Ph.Ds and M.Phils. He has published several International Research Papers in Journals, Magazines and Newspapers of Global Repute. Currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, Maharani`s Arts, Commerce and Management College for Women, Bangalore, a NAAC accredited `A` Grade College. A prolific writer and received wide spread acclaim for his power brand books - Services Management, International Finance, Indian Constitution, International Business Laws, Marketing, Research Methodology and the like. He also holds the position of Presidentship of Bangalore University Teachers` Council of Commerce and Management. He is a resource person visiting several B-Schools in India. Dr. Sathyanarayana Gowda.V. M.Com. M.Phil, MBA, Ph.D Assistant Professor, Government First Grade College, Devanahalli. He has 21 Years of teaching experience. He obtained his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in the area of Human Resource Management, from Bangalore University. He taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, guides research ( BBM, MBA, M.Com.) and he co-authored books of Services Management and Business Economics, he has participated in and presented papers at conferences and seminars. His mission is to encourage academics and students to pursue research and bring it to bear on their teaching and learning for nation building.
