About The Book

It gives us a great pleasure in presenting the first edition of the book titled “Strategic Management” under new syllabus of VI Sem BBM of Bangalore University. The book is not the new one with the fulcrum of the subject information which is added by Bangalore University on the revised syllabus under new dispensation.

While management is the art of getting things done through and by the people, Strategic Management aims at achieving corporate objectives and goals through distinct mechanisms. Many strategic decisions revolve around planning, implementation and evaluation of strategies giving adequate opportunities to the environmental changes. One can find Strategic Management practices in all walks of human life. From time immemorial, kings, monarchs, gladiators, important characters and monarchs in epic freedom fighters (Mahatma Gandhiji’s strategy of non-violence, say for example) to modern multinational companies to business leaders and a mendicants used strategies to achieve their predetermined objectives with available resources and ability at their disposal.

The present Strategic Management text book concerned with organizational business policy, strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation and control in the light of a given environmental scenario. The management students must necessarily possess theoretical backgrounds of environmental analysis, SWOT (now SWOC) analysis, Competitive Edge, strategic decision making, strategic management process, Vision, Mission, Strategic Intent, Key Result Areas (KRAs) and of course the reasons for the failure of strategic management before stepping into actual executive practice.

The specialty of this book is that for acquainting with conceptual foothold, the related concepts are explained thoroughly, the readers can build the knowledge base after reading and understanding in the right perspective of the Strategic Management Process involved in multinational, transnational and global companies on an ongoing basis.

About The Author

Dr. K. Ramachandra, has to his credit M.Com.(Rank Holder), MBA., DPM & IR, LLB., and Ph.D., and over two decades of teaching and research experience in the field of Commerce and Management disciplines. He was a High Court Advocate with strong base and exposure on business, taxation, and I PR trade laws. He has produced several Ph.Ds and M.Phils. He has published several International Research Papers in Journals, Magazines and Newspapers of Global Repute. Currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, Maharani`s Arts, Commerce and Management College for Women, Bangalore, a NAAC accredited `A` Grade College. A prolific writer and received wide spread acclaim for his power brand books - Services Management, International Finance, Indian Constitution, International Business Laws, Marketing, Research Methodology and the like. He also holds the position of Presidentship of Bangalore University Teachers` Council of Commerce and Management. He is a resource person visiting several B-Schools in India. He is a known personality among the teaching and student community. Prof. Alla Bakash S. is an Associate Professor in Commerce. Hasanath College for Women. Bangalore University. He is also serving as Incharge Principal in Hasanath College. Bangalore. He has a teaching experience of more than 1S years in the field of commerce and management. He has pursued his doctoral degree on the topic "Impact of Foreign Banks on Indian Banking System". He has organised a number of seminars and workshops. He has presented a number of research papers in state, national and international seminars and conferences. Nagabhushana, M.Com., MBA, Ph.D., NET, SET, PDF, is the Faculty of and Coordinator, PG Department of Commerce in Hasanath College, Bangalore and having more than 10 Year of experience to his account in various industries like NBFC, Insurance, Commercial Finance and in IT/ITES Multinationals as Finance and Accounts professional and more than 5 year of experience in teaching to higher education.
