Effective Human Resource Managers and Trainers are not born, they are made. In today’s competitive world, striving for change amidst pressures of soft skill and Technological Development, HR Managers and training need assessment, designing and choosing effective methods and management of training is increasingly being recognized as an activity which complements other management functions in providing the necessary input to create competitive edge for all sectors of our economy i.e., -industry, agriculture, health services, and education etc.
Two major steps have already been taken in an attempt to improve the quality of management :
i) A greater stress on training and development of the human resources, particularly, in the industrial sector, and
ii) The establishment of a large number of management institutes to provide a supply of future managers to the nation.
Unfortunately, such steps have not been matched by an adequate supply of effective trainers. The quality of the training imparted has thus supply of effective trainers. The quality of the training imparted has thus suffered. In this context has made a laudably contribution with the training and development elective offered to PGDBM/MBA course and HRD practioners. However, their exists scant published work in India on such topics relevant to training and development and trainers. They have little option other than to take recourse to foreign books and publication, which often have little direct applicability to the Indian situations.
