The demography and it's characteristics have various effects on different factors directly or indirectly related to it. The demographic studies have always proved to be a guide for planning in an economy. Almost, all the planning and execution in an economy are based on the results of demographic studies. Planning for population, business, environment etc. are directly affected by the demography of an area. The Business Demography and Environmental Studies is a systematic study of demography, factors affecting demography, the demographic factors affecting the business in an economy, various environments having internal and external impact on business, the environmental issues which have global impact in business etc. There is an increasing demand and interest for the subject both academically and in other general fields.

Universities have remodeled the course content of the Business Demography and Environmental Studies, to provide the opportunity to learn the practical implacability of the subject in the present world. The subject environmental studies have been declared as a compulsory subject by the University Grant Commission few years back, now to support the business management courses the content of the subject have been designed by different university to meet the demand of the global industries across the world.

The Business Demography and Environmental Studies have limited books for reference. My association with the teaching on the subject, has inspired me to bring a textbook on the subject, which can meet the introductory level of the subject and can give a base to the learner to understand the subject and its relation with other subject and practical life.

The book has been designed to meet the academic requirements of the undergraduate students. The book covers the entire syllabus of F.Y.BFM (B.Com., Financial Management) Course of Mumbai University. The BFM course has been introduced under the Innovative Programme w.e.f. 2014-15 by Mumbai University. The book provides a conceptual clarity on the subject matter. The book contents more examples form Indian context. Simple and lucid style has been followed to make the subject easily understandable.
