Legal framework is an important constituent of the business and corporate environment. No corporate entity can effectively work and survive without meeting legal obligations. The Indian Contract Act, 1872 which governs contract in India is the earliest piece of legislation which the country has produced. About The Author

P. Saravanavel (b. 1946) is a Professor of Management Studies in S.R.M. Engineering College. Prior to joining this college he served in Pachaiyappa`s College (1968-1976) in Madras and Sri Pushpam College at Poondi (1976-1990). He earned his post graduate and research degrees from the University of Madras. He has over 25 years of teaching experience in Accounting, Finance, Law etc., to the students M.Com, M.B.A. and M.Phil. Courses. He has authored and coauthored more than twenty books.
