About The Author

Dr. Arati Prabhu describes herself as "an outgoing person, enthusiastic, self-motivated and disciplined." She further adds working in the industry has made her "sensitive to service, organized, with an eye for detail and sharp follow-ups".

Her educational and professional qualifications include: Doctorate in Organization Management (Savitribai Phule Pune University), qualified NTA-UGC NET examination, Master of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (First class with distinction, Savitribai Phule Pune University), Diploma in Tourism Management (A Grade, University of Waikato, New Zealand), Bachelor of Arts (First Class, Mumbai University) and Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology (First Class, Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Mumbai). She has completed numerous research paper publications, featuring in International and National Journals of Management.

Dr. Prabhu is in academia for close to a decade. Having worked with illustrious institutions like Dr. D.Y. Patil IHMCT and AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, she is now working at the prestigious Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), at Savitribai Phule Pune University. She is the founding teaching faculty of the newly commenced one-of-its-kind BBA in Hospitality and Facilities Management. She has also taught subjects like Marketing, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship Development, F&B Service, F&B Controls, Principles of Management, Personality Development and Business Communications.

Her strength in teaching is a sound backup of a decade long industry experience with Kamat Hotels India Limited as Assistant Training Manager (September 2008 – April 2009), The O Hotel Pune as Assistant Training Manager (October 2007 – September 2008), Employee Welfare, Taj Lands End Mumbai as Banquet Office Manager (June 2005 – April 2007), Hyatt Regency Mumbai as Catering Sales Manager (May 2004 – May 2005), JW Marriott Mumbai as Assistant Sales Manager (October 2001 – February 2003), and The Leela Mumbai as Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage Service (August 1998 – September 2001).

Mrs. Tyagi started her hospitality career in 2002 as a Front Office Assistant with the renowned Spa in the world, Ananda in The Himalayas-Destination Spa, Uttarakhand. She has worked with Taj Blue Diamond, Pune as Guest Relations Executive. She possesses an ability to identify, understand and give priority to urgent issues. Her friendly personality and charisma has helped her to connect with guests and received many compliments from guests during her experience in Hotels.

She did her three year Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology from Government Institute of Hotel Management, Almora-Uttarakhand, BBA in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune, Masters in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamraj University, Madurai. She is pursuing Ph.D. in Hotel Management from Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Her teaching career started in December 2005 as a faculty with International Hospitality School, Kohinoor-IMI Khandala. She has contributed in the field of Research by presenting first research paper in National Conference in September 2006. She has published numerous research papers in National and International Journals. She has achieved training certificate by National Institute of Teachers Training & Research (NITTR), Chennai for Teaching and Training Technology.

Since August 2007, she is working with AISSMS CHMCT, Pune as an Assistant Professor - Accommodation Department. She has also taught subjects like Hospitality Marketing, Human Resource Management, Yield Management, Event Management, Tourism Management, Environment Management and her specialized subject of Accommodation Management.

Furthermore to her professional credit, she has been involved in designing syllabus for BHMCT course for the subjects of Rooms Division and Front Office Management of SPPU. She has been invited as a Speaker for various forums related to Careers in Hospitality and Revenue Management. She is an approved Assessor in 2015 for Qualification Pack-Front Office under Tourism and Hospitality Skill Development Council (THSC) by Confederation of Indian Industry, Gurgaon (CII). She is also a qualified trainer for Front Office Associate under Tourism & Hospitality Sector Skill Council of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (THSC-PMKVY).
