Over the last 22 years, our book Indian Economy has been accepted as a standard textbook at graduate and postgraduate levels by numerous students studying in various Universities and Colleges all over the country and is also widely used by Candidates appearning in various competitive examinations. It has also been widely acclaimed by a large body of teachers engaged in teaching the paper on Indian Economy across the country and has received this continued patronage and support. We are overwhelmed by the tremendous response to our effort and, in the hope of meeting the requirements and expectations of our esteemed readers, have tried to continuously revise and upgrade our book by incorporating the results of various studies, books and articles written by experts on different issues relating to the Indian economy over the years, adding new chapters and new debates that have cropped up from time to time, and by undertaking substantial revision of all statistical data and other information contained in the book.
