This textbook is written as per the revised syllabus introduced from the academic year 2009-2010. It contains a total of 10 chapters in an easy to understand language with Indian examples. About The Author

Dr. Vipan B. Kumar is associated with R.D. National College, Bandra, Mumbai as the Reader and Head of the Department of Psychology and is an internationally recognised scholar. He holds a Postgraduate as well as a Doctorate Degree from University of Mumbai in Clinical Psychology. He also has a degree in Law and done his Ph.D. in the area of Personality Disorder and has considerable experience in the area of teaching, training and consultancy. His areas of interest include: Borderline Personality Disorder, Anger Disorders, Suicide, Sexuality, Cognitive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Mental Health Policy, and Happiness. He has written more than a dozen research papers and co-authored more than 30 books, some of which are prescribed as textbooks. He was awarded Summer Fellowship in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy in the year 2002 by Albert Ellis Institute, New York, USA and was trained under Albert Ellis and Janet Wolfe. He has also undergone training under Marsha Linehan in Dialectal Behaviour .

He has also taught students of Engineering and Medical faculties as well as those appearing for IAS exams. He has been a visiting faculty at Jai Hind College, MMK College, Patkar College, St. Andrew`s College, Mumbai as well as State Institute ofAdmini strative Careers of Government of Maharashtra.   

He is an active member of Family Planning Association of India and Council of Sex Education and Parenthood International (CSEPI). He has won awards for his research work at National Conferences of Sexology in 2002 (held in Chennai), 2003 (held in New Delhi), 2005 (held in Hyderabad), and 2007 (held in Nagpur).
