About The Book

The Revolt of 1857 is an event of history that breaks through the confines of region, country, community, age, academic, non-academic, or any other limitation, as far as awareness about it is concerned even after 150 years have elapsed. The book has contributions from eminent scholars, who have come up with original perspective. The articles will capture the interest of a casual reader as well as a historian-the book caters to both. The style is varied, vibrant and anecdotal. Thus, while there are new interpretations of the revolt and its leadership, there are inputs from the perspective of film makers and other media persons. Highly readable, the inimitable style of each contributor is visible throughout.
