The retailing has been in existence in the quite past however organized retailing is the recent phenomenon in Indian economy nevertheless it is growing at a pace which nobody has thought in the country. It is providing opportunity of employment to a large section of the people and making shopping a leisurely and entertaining activity. Although retailing is being practiced everyday retail management needs some theory and a few guiding principles. The characteristics of retailing are peculiar and every successful retailer has been able to develop a model which may be replicated with or without modifications.

The store management is one of the most complex exercise and retail marketing beings with understanding the shopping vehaviour. The type of stores, its location and layout and supply chain are critical factors on the one side and consumer behaviour, the psychology of buying and macro level economic conditions on the other.

The book is intended to cover all these aspects in brief basically from the point of view of students of business schools. Various aspects of retail management at the introductory level are covered and explained in easy language to enable students to comprehend easily. The future analysis will be covering in the subsequent books but is serves the purpose of students by covering one of the papers in their syllabus. About The Author

Dr. R.S.Tiwari, a noted economist and management expert has a teaching experience of 47 years for graduate and postgraduate courses in Economics, Management, Rural Management in various Government colleges, IGNOU and Business Schools. With a master in Economics from Vikram University, Ujjain, M.R and a Ph.D. from Jabalpur University, he has a large number of articles, research papers and books published to his credit. He has an equally eloquent distinction of administrative training in his 14 years spent at the RCVP Noronha M.R Academy of Administration, Bhopal. A visiting faculty with various renowned institutes, including IGNOU, Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, and training institutes of various nationalised banks. He has been managing and teaching in the MBA institutions of, Bhopal for quite a long time.

Dr. Tiwari has undertaken a number of projects for Indian Council of Social Sciences and Research, New Delhi, M.R Government and other organisations and won a claim. He has guided many researches including a many Ph. Ds. Being the ex-Director of M.P.SATCOM Centre at the Academy, he is well versed with management of distance learning satellite communication and also made many short films on public awareness. He has been on the governing board of various institutions such as Hindi Granth Academy and member of Executive Council of B.U. University, Bhopal.

He has presented papers in many national and international platforms, chaired many sessions and aired many programme from Akashvani, Doordarshan and private TV channels. He has at his credit a number of books published along with articles in Journals and Magazines. He is also a regular writer on current economic and social issues in daily newspapers.
