About The Book

Best exploration of technology is based on better understanding of fundamental principles of Physics. Keeping this in mind, the text book entitled “Applied Physics-II”, which acters the complete syllabus of B.Tech II sem- Chemical Technology and Bio technology course of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has been written in a concise and very simple way. Every Chapter at arts with simple introduction and then related topics are covered with detailed description with the help of figures. Every chapter ends with list of formulae, solved problems unsolved exercise and review questions to test the knowledge and understanding acquired by the students after going through the chapter.

Syllabus of B.Tech Semester-II contain 6 units, starting with Chapter I on Basic Semiconducting devices, which deals with the basic concepts of classifications of solids, intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors, formation of P-N junction and working of various semiconducting devices like transistor, photo diode, solar cell and their application.

Chapter 2 is on Crystal structure deals with the study of crystalline solids regarding the crystal planes, inter atomic distance, interaxial angles, packing of constituent atoms, their formation, structure, Miller indices and unit cell characteristics of SC, BCC and FCC. Production, diffraction effects and application of X-rays are also discussed.

Chapter 3. Entitled Instrumental analysis deals with various characterization techniques such as Differential thermal analysis, Thermo gravimetric Analysis, differential thermo gravimetric analysis, Differential thermal analysis, Thermo gravimetric analysis, differential thermo gravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and Atomic spectroscopy.

Chapter 4 is on Ultrasonics the too high to hear sound are acoustic waves of shorter wavelength and high frequency greater then audible limit. Properties, various methods to generate, detect ultrasonic waves and applications are explained in derail.

Chapter 5 entitled Optical Fibre deals with the working principle, explanation of the terms associated with the field of fibre optic engineering, type of optical fibres, different modes of propogation, their advantage and applications.

Chapter 6 is on Nanotechnology deals with the world of nonomaterials, their properties, various methods to synthesize nano materials, characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM and the application of nanomaterials in various fields.
