About The Book

Course curricula of B.Com. programmer of Kuvempu University have been revised on a continuous basis keeping in mind the changes in the corporate environment. Minor revisions are made every year and comprehensive revision once in three years. For this purpose, thorough discusses are held both formally and informally including careful study of course curricula of many a number of reputed universities and interactions with experts. Further, workshops are held to discuss and finalize the course curricula. During 2012, Commerce Teachers' Forum of Kuvempu University in association with the Department of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Commerce of Kuvempu University had series of meetings and workshops, and outcome of all these exercises is the new course curricula for B.Com programmed effective from 2013-14 academic year. The unique feature of the new curricula is the right blend of both theory and practical's. Further, at least one course on Accounting is made mandatory for each of six semesters of B.Com. One such course prescribed by the university for the first semester of B.Com is the Advanced Financial Accounting (Course - 203).

We are happy to place before the teachers and students the Advanced Financial Accounting (Financial Accounting, Volume - II) which is prepared keeping in mind the syllabus of Advanced Financial Accounting course prescribed for the second semester of B.Com of Kuvempu University. This volume is the outcome of our experience in teaching Accounting courses for different levels and for many years. This book is prepared systematically explaining the concepts, procedure, rationale, etc., unequivocally followed many appropriate illustrations drawn from the question papers of previous examinations. A large number of problems are solved wherein each important and difficult adjustment / entry is explained in the form of working notes. And the presentation and analysis are simple but systematic. We are confident that this book satisfies the needs and expectations of students and teachers.

About The Author

J. Madegowda is currently working as Professor and Chairman in the Department of Studies in Commerce, and Dean of Faculty of Commerce, Kuvempu University, Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta (Karnataka State). Hailing from an agricultural family in Mandya District (Karnataka), Prof. Gowda had his early education in different institutions in Mandya District. He took his M.Com Degree in 1980 from the University of Mysore with first Class and first Rank, and received two Gold Medals for securing highest marks in M.Com. and in Advanced Cost Accounting. He started his teaching career as Lecturer in 1980. Working as teacher, he obtained his Doctoral Degree in 1989 from the University of Mysore. So far, he has published more than 75 research papers in the journals of repute and ten books besides editing two books. The University of Mysore awarded the Mysore University Golden Jubilee Award for 1994 for his first book entitled, Financial and Managerial Accounting. Further, the author has presented a large number of research papers at different national and international level conferences, seminars, etc., besides organizing more than a dozen seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. He has also guided a number of candidates in their M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees. Prof. Gowda has also served Kuvempu University as its Finance Officer and Vice-chancellor for few months. He has also served as the member of different bodies of Kuvempu University such as Academic Council, Senate, Syndicate, Finance Committee, etc., and as the chairman of Board of Studies, Board of Examiners, etc.

Dr. Giridhar K.V. is currently serving as Assistant Professor of Commerce and Management, Sahyadri Arts and Commerce College of Kuvempu University, Shimoga. He has MBA, M.Com., MA (Economic), PGDHRM, and PGDMM to his credit. He obtained Ph.D. in Management form Kuvempu University. He has taught Commerce and Management at different levels for about 18 years. He has also served as an Academic Co-ordinator for MBA and acting Principal at Shimoga branch of ICFAI University and Head, Department of MBA at Adichunchangiri Institute of Technology. Chikmagalur. Dr. Giridhar is also the recipient of Best Teacher award from ICFAI University and Nithyosta Andholan State Award, 2004. He published several articles on issues of Commerce and Management in edited books and Journals of National and International reputed, and authored a book entitled Logical Reasoning and Mental Ability.
