Actually Profit is maximized when Marginal cost equals Marginal revenue which is derived from Economics. Marginal cost Marginal revenue can be calculated by using Differential Calculus which is a part of Mathematics.

Simplex method under Operation Research is an effective tool used to solve many business problems mainly to optimize profit in Management Accounting. In Cost Volume Profit analysis, we use Operation Research technique such as Simplex method, transportation models, and Queing theory, where as Future cost, future benefits, Opportunity costs are relevant for decision. Opportunity costs can be identified form Simplex table which is known as shadow price.

About The Author

Prof. L. Augustin Amaladas is the HOD of Commerce at St. Joseph`s College of Commerce, Bangalore and an Associate member of the Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India. He secured his master degree from Loyola College, Chennai.

He is an enthusiastic teacher and is an expert in various subjects like Mergers and Acquisitions for Corporate Executive MBA programs, Research Methodology and Apparel Costing, Cost and Management Accounting, Business Statistics, Income Tax, Tax Planning, Advanced Accountancy, Financial Management, International Finance etc. He has also been Co-coordinator and faculty member of professional courses like CA PE-I & PE-II, (CPT & PCC) and CFA.

He is a renowned author and has taken the initiative to formulate and prepare the entire syllabus and course material, in a form of a book called Corporate Knowledge Integration, a new subject which has not been taught anywhere in India. He also prepared the modules an author for Infosys Training Program and Training module for certification in Business Accounting in 2009. He is an author of a book titled "Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring" by Kalyani Publishers. He has gained a lot of experience by sharing his professional knowledge at different levels starting from the school level to the level of corporate executives.
