About The Book

A word about the title, Empowering Bharat. Mahatma Gandhi once said that India lived in her villages. The connotation, with its undercurrent of age-old tradition, sounds appropriate for a study encompassing co-operative movement and co-operative banks in a country, which was and is, and shall always remain Bharat.

I trust the book will be of use for the bankers, especially those in the co-operative banking sector, the general readers, scholars studying the co-operative movement and the functioning of Urban Co-operative Banks in the country and the policy makers ushering in inclusive development.
