About The Book

A balanced diet contains an adequate amount of all the macro and micro nutrients required by the body to grow, remain healthy and be disease-free. In addition, a healthy, balanced diet provides the necessary energy requirement, prevents vitamin, mineral, and other nutritional deficiencies.

About The Author

Dr. Rita Bhargava is a Registered Dietitian, presently Chief Consultant Dietitian and Head of Department, Critical Care and Bariatric Nutritionist, Nutrigenomic Counsellor, Diabetes Educator, at CARE Hospital, Nagpur, Maharashtra. Currently, she is a RD Representative, IDA, Nagpur Chapter and RD trainer. She is a research counsellor at IGNOU, DFSM. She has done her PG Diploma in Dietetics, Business Management, M.Sc., Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition from RTMNU. She has done her RD in 2003.With 30 years of clinical experience in Therapeutic Dietetics, she has trained many Dietitians from Central India. She was the organising secretary of IDA National Convention in 2007. She has organised several CNE/seminars and diet exhibitions, public awareness programs at academic, community and corporate levels. She has presented papers at various National Conferences and International Congress of Dietetics, ICDA - Sydney and Spain. She has been faculty at many National Conferences at IDA, RSSDI.

The author is the Past President of Indian Dietetic Association, Nagpur Chapter, and ex-member of NEC, National Media and Communication Committee, IDA (2014-18). She is Hon. Secretary of IAPEN, Nagpur Chapter (2023-2026). She has to her credit a review article in National IDA newsletter on The Saturated Fat story re-evaluated and has published articles in journals DAI, RSSDI, and nutrition awareness write-ups in newspapers, newsletters and magazines for benefit of dietetics students and masses. Dr. Rita is also a life member of various associations - IDA, NSI, DAI, RSSDI, ADE, NetProFaN, IAPEN, Peace Foundation and Rotary.

Dr. Kavita Bakshi, is presently a faculty of Dietetics, at WTERI Nagpur, Maharashtra. She has done her PG Diploma in Public Relations, PG Diploma in Dietetics, M.Sc., Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition from RTMNU. She is a certified Diabetic Educator and Nutrigenomic counsellor. She is a Research counsellor at IGNOU DFSM. She has organised CNE/Seminars for working Dietitians and more than 100 diet exhibitions for public awareness programmes at various platforms like hospitals, industries, societies, corporates and participated in various health camps for diet counselling to the masses. She conducts Nutrition Education Programs for both rural and urban school children and women of all age groups, etc.

The author is the convenor of Indian Dietetic Association, Nagpur Chapter, and member of NEC, IDA (2018-2023), co-convenor NetProFaN, Nagpur Chapter, She is also Hon. Treasurer at IAPEN, Nagpur Chapter (2023-2026), Executive Member - NSI Nagpur Chapter. She is a life member of IDA, NSI, IAPEN and ADE. She has published several articles in National and International journals on various topics, viz: Obesity, Diabetes, Bone Mineral Density and Nutrition awareness writeups in newspapers, newsletters and magazines.
