About The Book

The book has been written primarily to cater to the needs of M.B.A., M.Com., M.S.W., MHRM, Diploma Courses in Industrial Relations and Labour Laws and competitive examinations. It would also be useful to the practitioners in HRM and Labour Laws. This book would be an outcome of my experience in teaching the subject for many years and my interaction with the students and their feedback. Good industrial relationship is the adequate device for having the sustainable growth of the company in the economy. Good environment and successful interpersonal relation would lend its hands in strengthening employer-employee relationship. The happiness in the job enables the employees to be successful in the job as well as in their personal life. For the people to be happy in the work three things are required:

• Physical and mental health,
• Conducive working conditions, and
• Respect towards their job and organisation

This book furnishes concepts of industrial relations and labour laws, in view point of the students appearing for the course papers. The book would give a friendly approach to the students in guiding them to get knowledge about the industrial relationship and labour laws.

Pedagogical Features of the Book

The text is presented in the simplest language "meant to serve the beginners". Each paragraph has been arranged under a suitable heading for easy retention of concept. Wherever possible the text matter relating to a particular topic / subtopic has been presented in tabular form. All important formulae, figures and practical steps have been presented in screen format to grab the attention. Each unit has been uniformly organised under two chapters. The text is supported by suitable illustrations, minicases and review questions. A few case laws are given wherever necessary, to explore the basics and fundamental which provide a broader view of the present issue. To have a critical analysis and understanding of the workplace disputes, conflicts, grievance settlement, labour welfare, many examples are included at the end of the each chapter. At the end of every chapter, review questions are added to reinforce the readers to understand of the chapter thoroughly.

About The Author

Dr. V. Kubendran, Professor of Management, has postgraduated in management, Labour Management and Business Law and Ph.D. from management. He was in service of Tamil Nadu government for 13 years and having teaching experience of 16 years in management in various Engineering and Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu. At present he is working as a professor of management at BSMED, Bharathiar University, and Coimbatore. He has published 13 research articles in national and international journals and he has also presented more than 30 papers in national and international conferences. He is supervising the Ph.D. and M.Phil. Scholars and the authored a book titled “Legal Aspects of Business”, published by SCI-Tech. Publication India.

Ms. K. Kodeeswari, a law graduate from Government Law College, Madurai and post graduated in social work from Madurai Institute of Social Science, Madurai. She has presented papers in national conferences and seminars and also a practising advocate. She is pursuing her research (Ph.D.) in Social Work, Department of Social Work, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
