About The Book

The National Education Policy, 2020 heralds new hopes, new inspirations, new vistas and new destination for Commerce and Management student community. The present book is authored keeping in mind the student-centric, self-cognising and learning based outcomes. The visionary NEP will fructify in course of time bringing greater value, utility and meaningfulness to the learners, who form the significant human capital of our country. Keeping the above intent of the NEP-2020 and in line with the syllabus carved out by the committee, the subject Management Principles and Applications is written. Since the subject belongs to Discipline Specific Core, the content of each module is effectively presented for easy and simple understanding by all.

In the first unit of the textbook, the introduction to Management - Importance - Managerial Functions, Essence, Evolution of the Management thoughts and theories are thoroughly deliberated keeping in mind, the NEP intent.

In the second unit, Meaning and Nature of Planning, Types of plans-Planning process; Strategic planning: and Techniques like SWIT/TOWS/WOTS-UP-BCG Matrix Competitor Analysis, Decision-making-Concepts are discussed. In the third unit, Concept of Organizing, Span of management, Different types of authority and Network Organisation Structure are meticulously covered.

In the fourth unit, staffing: Concept and process of Staffing, concepts of Motivation and its theories. Types of leadership are arrayed. Subsequently concepts of Communication, its types and Barriers to communication are lucidly portrayed.

Eventually, Concept of Controlling, Major Techniques of control and Coordination concepts are systematically presented in the fifth unit.

Each unit is meticulously presented with learning objectives, detailed discussion of concepts, theories, models and living cases with examples. The book is reader friendly and worth treasuring it for the posterity. Each chapter ends with objective, analytical and essay type questions.

About The Author

Dr. K. Ramachandra, has to his credit M.Com.(Rank Holder), MBA., DPM & IR, LLB., and Ph.D., and over two decades of teaching and research experience in the field of Commerce and Management disciplines. He was a High Court Advocate with strong base and exposure on business, taxation, and I PR trade laws. He has produced several Ph.Ds and M.Phils. He has published several International Research Papers in Journals, Magazines and Newspapers of Global Repute. Currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, Maharani`s Arts, Commerce and Management College for Women, Bangalore, a NAAC accredited `A` Grade College. A prolific writer and received wide spread acclaim for his power brand books - Services Management, International Finance, Indian Constitution, International Business Laws, Marketing, Research Methodology and the like. He also holds the position of Presidentship of Bangalore University Teachers` Council of Commerce and Management. He is a resource person visiting several B-Schools in India. He is a known personality among the teaching and student community. Prof. Alla Bakash S. is an Associate Professor in Commerce. Hasanath College for Women. Bangalore University. He is also serving as Incharge Principal in Hasanath College. Bangalore. He has a teaching experience of more than 1S years in the field of commerce and management. He has pursued his doctoral degree on the topic "Impact of Foreign Banks on Indian Banking System". He has organised a number of seminars and workshops. He has presented a number of research papers in state, national and international seminars and conferences. Dr. S. Nagabhushana, M.Com., MBA, Ph.D., NET, SET, PDF, is the Faculty of and Coordinator, PG Department of Commerce in Hasanath College, Bangalore and having more than 10 Year of experience to his account in various industries like NBFC, Insurance, Commercial Finance and in IT/ITES Multinationals as Finance and Accounts professional and more than 5 year of experience in teaching to higher education. He has several publications and a few books to his account had participated and presented several papers in National and International seminars conducted by various institutions.

Dr. B. Chandrashekara, hails from a small village in Hassan District and marched forward considerably to carve a niche in the field of business education in India. He has toiled and moiled to reach the self-prophecy of becoming an established teacher in the field of Commerce and Management. His strenuous and hard work fetched him a place as a matured professor.
